Crystal Leshore was nominated anonymously.
"If you ask anyone in the community who Mrs. Leshore is, I promise you it will take them all day to tell you about the amazing things that she does. She is an author, teacher, cheer coach, youth advisor, mentor, nonprofit leader, member of the Junior Auxiliary, and so much more," said the nominator.
"Each morning, she gets up at 4:30 to start her day. She jumps on the computer to upload videos and check emails before even taking her dog out. She is so passionate about what she does. At home, she cooks and also talks to parents about different ways to help their children. She does not leave any child behind, going to their homes to meet with parents, doing phone conferences way past work hours due to the parents' work schedules, and most of all, giving it her all," said the nominator.
"I have watched Mrs. Leshore not only strive to be the best teacher but also the best mentor for Gulfport. She is also a cheer coach for the Gulfport City Lead. She takes ten girls every year and mentors them, teaching them cheer and preparing them for the middle school squad. She used her weekends to have practices and show the girls how to flip, cheer, and build character. She teaches students in Gulfport School District and virtually in Kemper County after just finishing another Master's Program in Reading Literacy. She is dedicated and determined and never gives up," said the nominator.
"As a JA member, she goes out in the community to get donations to help students living in low-income environments get the essentials that are important for them, such as clothes, shoes, and underclothes, so that they can have a fresh start every morning. At her school, she does a Lady with Lunch with others for girls who need mental health assistance. She wrote a book with her daughter that can be purchased on Amazon about the changes and mental health that occur in blended families," said the nominator. "She takes teaching to a whole new level, putting on events in the community to help the less fortunate kids. On Friday nights, she is a youth advisor for the NAACP, where she meets with local kids to help build their knowledge about political views in the community. She volunteers to help get voters registered with her nonprofit called Girls Code. She is always busy and always on the go, and when we cannot find her, we know for sure she is somewhere with some kids who need her. Last year, she was featured in Good Morning Gulf Coast with the local news station on the impact that she makes on students."
"If I had to describe her in three words, they would be kind, caring, and ambitious," said the nominator.
"She has done so much for her students that I can never name it all. Last year, she was awarded grants to provide tablets inside the school. This year, she was awarded a grant to provide all students with free paper for the year. Her students love her, and everywhere she goes, someone hollers, 'Hey, Mrs. Leshore.' Just seeing her go is everything," said the nominator.
"This is the best teacher I have seen so far. When someone calls, she goes and never says no," said the nominator.
Mrs. Leshore is an excellent teacher, mentor, and motivational speaker. Her ministry is truly working with students and helping them achieve their Goals.
She use to work for us at the Gulf Coast Center for Non-Violence. She is indeed a wonderful teacher and deserves all the honors and recognition

Crystal has been a bright light in my family lives since we met many years ago. She loves children and education with everything in her and it shows. When I very first met Mrs. Leshore we talked over the phone speaking with her about my son Jimmy's behavior in class. Mrs. Leshore sounds like a very caring and hardworking teacher and I really love that for my son and hope he does an excellent job in math with Mrs. Leshore teaching him.
