Music that Describes Terence

Terence Davis was nominated by a family member, Arlinda Davis.

"It is both an honor and a privilege to nominate Reverend Terence James Davis for LifeChanger of the Year. He is the epitome of a LifeChanger, a game changer, and a wonderful influencer for our youth. Reverend Davis is a retired veteran with over 25 years of service in the United States of America. He became a minister and served where his heart is the biggest, as the youth pastor. Rev. Davis has the biggest heart and love for encouraging and supporting our children. He became a custodian at Bryant Park Elementary before the pandemic, and when students returned to school, his main priority was keeping them safe," said Arlinda.

"He believes in the students having a safe and loving environment and taking pride in their learning environment. His talents don't just lend themselves to creating a fabulous atmosphere but to sharing his knowledge with students. He reads to classrooms and has often worked with teachers on outdoor classroom projects and lessons. Students often deal with things and need a smile, a pat on the back, a word of encouragement, or just knowing someone cares," said Arlinda.

"Reverend Davis is that person. Teachers, parents, and staff often brag about his ability to transform a day or how wonderful he is! The Jefferson County Board of Education has recognized him for his work and engagement with the students and community. He truly has the highest moral and ethical standards, and it shows in his work history and dedication. He deserves to be called a LifeChanger because he has and is still leaving his mark on youth nationwide. After leaving his school daily, he loves and supports his beautiful children and grandchildren. During the week and weekend, he extends himself to his church community and their youth, giving whatever love and support they need to become successful adults. He will always be a superhero to me because he may not leap tall buildings, but he leaps tall with problems. He can't lift a locomotive with one hand, but he can lift children's hearts, minds, and spirits. He can't stop a bullet with his teeth, but he can speak the most amazing words and give the most amazing smile that will stop anyone from having a bad day," said Arlinda.

I am not at all surprised that Terrance is nominated. Every since I’ve known him he has shown himself to be a man of great integrity. A man who loves God, his family church and community. We need more like him.

When I think of LifeChanger, I concur, Terence is just that. Although his job title is Head Custodian, he is a teacher during every encounter. In the schools the children are impressionable students. There is always an opportunity to teach with your very existence. Terence often talks about how the kids want to come work with him. Even when it’s supposed to be a form of punishment, he takes the time to talk to and encourage them. Teaching them how to behave in class. More importantly he listens attentively to why they exhibited the behavior. He is blessed with a discerning spirit allowing him to connect in a special way. Terence is also a LifeChanger at Agape Missionary Baptist Church where he is Pastor of Christian Education. He takes it very seriously when ministering to the people of God. He loves imparting wisdom and expounding upon the Word of God to make it applicable to everyday living. Lastly, Terence is a family man who lovingly leads by example every day for his wife, both daughters and three grandchildren. Terence is a LifeChanger!!

Terence Davis is the type of person you want your children and loved ones to be around. He has so much love and care for others. His genuine smile lets you know that you're important and that someone does care. In a world where many need a father figure or someone who will let them know they're in this world ON purpose WITH a purpose FOR a purpose, Terence Davis is the ambassador in delivering this message. He truly cares, and it's not about the money or the fame or people knowing his name. It's about those lives that will and can be touched. It's giving a word of encouragement whenever and wherever needed. I know this all to be true. It's a joy to let folks who don't know who Terence Davis TRULY is just who he truly is!!!

I work at Bryant Park Elementary with Mr. Davis. He is the kindest person with the biggest heart. Mr. Davis is always willing to help, and continues to have a smile on his face throughout the day. Our students love Mr. Davis and can’t wait to give him hugs in the morning. Our school would not function without him.
