Jose Garcia was nominated by his colleague, Julie Ahern.
"Mr. Jose, our custodian, is an amazing individual who deeply cares about our school community. We would all like to truly let him know how much we appreciate his above and beyond efforts to keep our school clean and looking great," said Ahern. "Half of the Cooke School building is over one hundred years old and needs loving care and attention. After four lunch periods, Mr. Jose works diligently to get the gym and multi-purpose room ship shape so afternoon classes can resume. We've had lots of new materials come to our school, and I always see something on a cart that Mr. Jose is putting together for us. Anytime we ask Mr. Jose for something to get done that is not part of his regular duties, we are met with a smile and willingness to help. It must be said that Mr. Jose also has a wicked sense of humor that keeps us laughing during both hard and good times. Please know that we appreciate every thing he does for us!"

Mr. Jose is our school custodian. What makes him awesome is he sees the needs of our building long before anyone else does. Mr. Jose always always listens to a concern, and takes care of it right away, along with a joke or funny story. I can't imagine this building without Mr. Jose!!

I worked with many custodians at Cooke in my 23 years there. Mr. Jose was the easiest to communicate with, always helpful with requests and going "above and beyond" when he saw a need. I am so glad to know Cooke is still benefiting from his presence on staff.

Mr. Jose is amazing. There isn't anything at the school that he is not willing to fix. He works so hard to make sure everything at Cooke is running smoothly and that the inside and outside of the building is always clean. He is kind and caring and always has a smile on his face.

Mr. Jose is amazing. There isn’t anything that I ask of him he can’t figure out. This past week he spent a huge chunk of time in my room hanging shelves I ordered wrong. He spent so much time figuring them out and they are great! He is such a valuable member of our staff and we are blessed to have him.

Mr. Jose is one of my most favorite people! Even though I have some wacky ideas, he always is my biggest cheerleader!
He always greets you with a smile, no matter what! It could be the coldest day and he just removed snow from the sidewalk and he already has cleaned up a spill and other gross stuff, but yet he still is happy to help you. He takes great pride in our school building and it shows. Whether it is trimming trees, pick up trash or buffing floors. We have one of the cleanest in our district, with many new custodians coming to our building to be trained because they(the higher-ups) know that they will be trained the right way. We are so lucky to have him!
Jose is a very kind person who cares deeply about our school. He goes above and beyond to keep our school safe and clean. Anytime I need help cleaning something up, fixing something, or putting something together, he comes right away to assist me.
Wow...after reading Ms. Ahern's comment, I am left without comments of my own that have not already been said. So, I can only say that I strongly agree with everything she has mentioned. Our custodian Mr. Jose deserves this praise and more. He is definitely a keeper...lol!
Mr. Garcia is always greeting us with a smile and a good joke in the morning. He strives to make sure we have the proper equipment/materials needed, he cleans the school with amazing cleanliness, and he is a delight to converse with. He's the best custodian that I've met and we are grateful to have Mr. Garcia part of Andrew Cooke Magnet School. Without him, our school teachers wouldn't have well setup furniture, building fix ups, or proper cleanups. We love you, Mr. Garcia!
As a PT who works in multiple buildings in our district, Jose is one of my most favorite people to see and talk to. Just his presence alone puts a smile on my face and brightens my day. He has such a kind and caring disposition and he is always willing to help and go the extra mile for both staff and students. To Jose, no task is impossible. We are truly blessed to have him working in our district and he is such a wonderful role model for our students.
I have only had the pleasure of working with Mr. Jose for a few years, but I can tell you these have been some of the best! Mr. Jose has one of the best personalities I have ever known! He goes above and beyond for all staff here at the school and makes sure we have everything we need! Mr. Jose is one of the best custodians that I have ever had the pleasure of working with in my 17 years of education, and he deserves this award!
Jose is not just a LifeChanger but a lifesaver. He goes above and beyond every time I ask for assistance in adapting something special for one of our diverse learners. His creativity and resourcefulness has proven to be one of his most valuable assets. Jose has readily assembled, installed and modified so many pieces to our sensory room so that our students are safe and happy. He has even willingly crawled under my car in a snow filled parking lot to hoist up the splash shield so I could drive home safely! Jose, you are truly appreciated!
Mr. Jose is one of the most hardworking people I have had the pleasure of working with. Even though he is always on the go, he always finds time to help others. Last year, on my way to work, I had a tire blow out. Luckily, I was able to make it to work but was unsure of how to change a tire. While Mr. José was outside, he saw I needed some help and came to change my tire for me. Cracking jokes the whole time of course! That’s the type of friend and coworker he is. Kind and helpful. His sense of humor brings a smile to my face everyday and his eagerness to help others is remarkable. I appreciate everything he does to keep our school safe and clean! Thank you for everything!!

Mr. Jose Garcia always went the extra mile to keep the entire campus ready for learning. He always did the work cheerfully and was never thrown off of his game by unexpected or last minute changes to the schedule.
