Fredrick Ruff was nominated by a friend, Barbara Williams.

"Fredrick is an amazing, dependable custodian who is always willing and ready to go above and beyond to help the staff, children, and his teammates. He is always alert and ready to step into whatever challenges that are presented to him. Dutch Fork High School would not be the same without his willingness and caring to help keep our school clean and children safe," said Williams.

"I observed three students that came into an altercation during lunchtime at the school in the cafeteria area," said Williams. "Fredrick immediately, without hesitation, stepped in to assist and separate the young men. Then, he offered to coach and counsel them about why he interfered and felt he needed to educate those young men on the importance of good behavior and education. Although administrators handled the altercation, Mr. Ruff felt it was in his best interest to make sure those gentlemen apologized to each other. He spoke to each one individually about the disruption they may have caused the school. Mr. Ruff is a mentor, a custodian, and a great team player at work."
