Americo Ramirez was nominated by his assistant principal, Jennifer Tirado.
Mr. Ramirez is not only a custodian, but a published author. He always comes to work with a smile on his face and a positive attitude. Mr. Ramirez does a wonderful job collaborating with his team and creating a respectful, positive work environment.
"When he joined the custodial team, his ideas and positive attitude added great value to our school. Americo is energetic and makes connections with teachers and kids. He supports our school goals and understands how the cleanliness of the facility helps create a great learning environment for students," said Tirado.
He recently wrote his first bilingual children's book, "Escuela de Panthers: School of Panthers." The book's message concerns tolerance, respect, friendship, and personal growth. It is dedicated to "all of the custodians who contribute to shaping the men and women of the future," as Mr. Ramirez does.
"We are pleased to celebrate Americo as part of Hispanic Heritage Month. He is a true inspiration for our staff and students," said Tirado.
Americo is a great person, a member who contributes to his community. He is also a writer of wonderful books but without a doubt, one of his greatest virtues is his generosity with the entire community.

I could not agree more about Americo being a true inspiration, he is kind and considerate to everyone he meets. He takes time out of his busy day to inquire about how others days are going. He is genuine in his caring and truly listens. When I am having a bad day he makes me see that things are not as bad as they seem and that tomorrow will another opportunity to try again. Mr. Americo is such a pleasure to work with at Everglades Elementary. His dedication to his work goes above and beyond expectations. He is always willing to help whenever needed. On top of being a hard worker at school, he is has published bilingual children's books on his "free time". I couldn't think of a more deserving person for this award!
