"Mrs. Green saved my son's future by ensuring his school work got done," said Brown. "She took him into her office each day to ensure he did his work. She encouraged him to stay in school and do the best he could. She also helped him with his college application to make sure he got into college. She took a personal interest in my son's future."

I am writing to enthusiastically support Cynthia Greene's nomination for the LifeChanger award. I have had the privilege of witnessing her unwavering dedication and profound commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of her Transfer School students. NYC Transfer High Schools are high schools designed to re-engage students who have dropped out or fallen behind in credits. While they are the most underserved, Cynthia has gone above and beyond to support her students in completing high school and making postsecondary plans. She listens to her students when they are having challenges in life that affect them completing school work, then she engages them to create a plan for getting back on track and follows up relentlessly. She helps them research careers and find postsecondary programs (college and training programs) that match their interests, all while holding them to high standards. She looks for opportunities to provide career exposure despite having a small budget to do so. She's utilized her weekends to escort students to college or career fairs. Although her caseload can reach as many as 50 students with varying graduation dates, she provides each student with individualized attention making sure they have a commitment once they finish high school and the support to see it through. Cynthia is nothing short of amazing and her empathy, professionalism, and innovative ideas make her the most deserving candidate for the LifeChanger Award.
