John Conner was nominated by his wife, Jenn Conner.

"My husband is such an amazing teacher," said Mrs. Conner. "He took a school that really didn't have a huge interest in physical education and made every student love physical education. It was so important to him that all kids love gym. I personally hated gym in elementary school, and it's impacted my entire life regarding sports and fitness. My husband never wanted that to happen to any children he meets. He's constantly thinking of new things to do and tests ideas out on our 7-year-old for feedback. Physical education teachers are often overlooked. They have the same education as every other teacher, just because they get to wear sneakers doesn't make them less of an educator."
