Courtney Roper was nominated by her friend and colleague, Karen Arnold.

Although Ms. Roper's official title is parent liaison, she is and does so much more than that. She makes a positive impact on students at her elementary school, with students in the Park Vista High School band, and the community that she lives in.

Ms. Roper is affectionately known as Momma Sunshine because of her warm heart and giving personality.  She starts the year by making sure that students at her school have clean uniforms.  Every year, she arranges to to have over 200 school uniforms picked up at Back to Basics, and she delivers them to students in need at her school. Ms. Roper has personally formed community partnerships with corporations that have donated backpacks filled with supplies to all 750 students. These partnerships made it possible for staff to fill the backpacks with school supplies. Ms. Roper also arranges the donation, pick up, and delivery of Thanksgiving meals to needy families, as well as book and gift donations for students during the holidays. She visits any student that has a hospital stay, visits staff members when they have been hospitalized, and arranges for cards and flowers to be sent to any family that has a crisis.

Ms. Roper has arranged and attended all "Shop with a Cop" events over the past five years, which not only provides gifts to children, but create a positive relationship between community police, the children, and their families.

"Courtney's vision inspired us to create a school garden and a rock garden that has painted rocks with positive sayings on them," said Arnold. "She wrote the grant that got us the funds to build these projects.  She was instrumental in planning each step of the garden, and she even helped the students and staff paint the rocks!"

Ms. Roper is on the leadership team at Crosspointe and provides guidance to teachers and students by providing trainings in Social Emotional Learning. These trainings positively impact both the students and the teachers. Spreading positivity and "sunshine" is her mission.

Ms. Roper's also the parent volunteer coordinator for her son's high school marching band.  She has baked cupcakes for 250 members of the band each year, chaperones the trips that they take, has made costumes, provided transportation, and helped the band with anything that they need.

"In conclusion, Courtney is committed to producing a nurturing atmospere," said Arnold. "Her positive outlook and inspiration has impacted not only her school worksite, but her son's school, the community of Boynton Beach, and the lives of everyone who interacts with her."

Courtney is truly one of the nicest, kindest, friendliest people I have ever met. When I became the Principal of Crosspointe Elementary five years ago I knew this school needed someone with a big heart, big smile and a belief that all children can succeed. She has been working here with me for the past five years as the family liaison providing our families with whatever they need (food, clothing, school supplies and even just a shoulder to lean on). Courtney is in our center hallway everyday with a huge smile welcoming all of our students. The parents have nicknamed her "Mama Sunshine" because of her giving, happy and friendly personality. It is truly an honor to work alongside of her each and every day. Courtney Roper you are truly the definition of a Life Changer!!!

My husband & I have two daughters that are special to us that we are very proud of. Courtney is our youngest & has been a challenge to us her whole life. She always participated in everything she possibly could & thanks to her father, her sister, two grandmas & me, we took turns delivering her to these many functions. (I did a “happy dance” the day she got her own car). She has always involved all of us to help out & we did it willingly. From her sister painting cute animals, insects & a Hugh sunshine on the walls in her office to having me help out at her school or with her son’s school (she is a wonderful, involved Mom too!). One of my greatest joys when helping at her school is meeting the many folks she works with, including the students. I get to hear wonderful, sincere comments about her from the principal ( a terrific leader) to teachers, business partners (the mayor & chief of police) to parents, etc. That is a lot of lasting warm fuzzies for this Mom! Does Courtney deserve this award? Absolutely! However, I must confess, I am prejudice!

Courtney is an amazing influence at our school, always a cheerful disposition and eager smile for our kids. She also has numerous connections to help everyone out with whatever they need to boost morale, basic necessities, or just a calm place to chill on campus. Our school would not be the same without having Courtney around and all the above and beyond that she routinely organizes for everyone on campus. Go Courtney!!!

Courtney Roper is the real deal. 100% true Sushine. Just being in her vicinity makes you feel good. When I see her car, painted with “groovy” flowers, on the streets of Palm Beach County it brings a smile to my face. She is instrumental to the sucess with the Park Vista Performers- PV High School Band. Coordinating volunteers for the last couple of years is not an easy job yet she makes it look effortless. Congratulations Courtney! Well deserved. We Love You!

I am honored to work with such a dedicated and kind person. Courtney Roper has made it her mission that every child who passes through the Crosspointe doors leave here feeling successful and accomplished. She does this through her many community outreach programs, business partnerships and volunteers. Courtney welcomed me with open arms on my first day at the school. She made me feel like a valued member of the team from the first moment, and every moment since. Courtney's motto is #KindnessMatters, and she lives this motto every day through her words and actions. She is the best example for our students, staff and parents.

I am so grateful to be able to call Mrs. Roper a colleague, a mentor, an inspiration, and a friend! She is amazing! Mrs. Roper always has a smile on her face and forms true connections with the students and the families. I have been in her office when students, who have already graduated, have called her to say hello and share what is going on in their lives. She is at numerous after-school events showing her support and sharing her love for the students, families, and communities. Kindness Matters is her mantra and her mission! She is a role model to everyone who comes into contact with her. I feel truly blessed to know her!
