Rosalind Boccheciamp was nominated by Chad and Kristin Hendricks, the parents of a student.
When Chad and Kristin think about the elementary teacher their daughter Maddie has had for the last 5 years, the term “LifeChanger” certainly comes to mind. Rosalind Boccheciamp, lovingly known by the teachers, parents and students as “Mrs. B,” is the Deaf and Hard of Hearing teacher at Crystal Lake Elementary. Her class is comprised of students in kindergarten through fifth grade. She accommodates for not only the curriculum of each grade level, but also sign interprets for students, and writes and attends each of their IEP’s.
"Our daughter, Maddie, is a fourth grader who is hearing impaired. She also happens to have Down syndrome," Chad and Kristin explained. "Sometimes, as parents of a child with a disability, we worry for her. She struggles with learning, but is very capable with patience and time."
Over the years, Mrs. B has created strategies to help Maddie learn. When Maddie entered kindergarten, her parents never imagined she would be able to learn to read so quickly, write and memorize her spelling words, and then add and subtract.
"Mrs. B is one of Maddie’s absolute favorite people. She has attended birthday parties and awareness events we’ve held for Maddie in her own personal time," Chad and Kristin said. "Mrs. B understands our concerns as parents because she herself is a parent of a child who has a hearing impairment. We will never forget the conversation we had with her right before Maddie started kindergarten, Mrs. B assured us Maddie was in the right setting and that she would do wonderfully."
Maddie can be as stubborn as she is sweet, and Mrs. B has implemented a firm behavior plan that has been nothing short of amazing. Even though every single one of Mrs. B's students is taller than her, they respect her and go above and beyond to please her.
Mrs. B is the type of educator who goes above and beyond, taking the time to call parents after school working hours to discuss situations if needed. Mrs. B always has a theme to start a new learning year for her students.
"Every year, we wonder how she could possibly make it more amazing than the year before, and somehow she does," the Hendricks' said.
From camping tents, to solving mysteries, and even cooking, her classroom is an environment of fun and love. In addition to teaching her students, Mrs. B runs the ASL (American Sign Language) club at school for any student in third grade through fifth. Maddie was a part of this club last year.
"The hard work and commitment Mrs. B puts into their twice yearly productions is evident. The shows are inspiring and beautiful. I’m quite certain we speak for so many students and parents who share our same admiration for Mrs B. We consider our daughter one of the luckiest children to be able to have an educator who cares so much," the Hendricks said.
"Mrs. B is so inspiring and very special to not only Maddie and our family, but so many other students she has influenced during her years at Crystal Lake Elementary," the Hendricks concluded. "We could write so much more and share so many more stories of why this marvelous woman deserves this award. Mrs. B truly is a LifeChanger."
Not all heroes wear capes.
Ms. B definitely deserves this recognition. She goes above and beyond for her students and supports students and teachers outside her classroom. My students have been recipients of this support. She is a powerful advocate for the rights of the Deaf and Hearing students and their parents. Ms B is an outstanding teacher!
I have known this young lady for years now and she is so dedicated to her job. Her kids are so important to her.. she gets them to excel in school and in their home life.. my vote is for her
Mrs B is my niece and an example of a great person with an immense heart. She have been through a lot in her life due to her health condition and many surgeries. She is an amazing teacher who dedicated her personal time to attend events for her students. She spends many hours preparing teacher's plans to ensure that she provide the best program to support all her students. I am very proud of her nomination for life changer award.
I'm Rosalind’s best friend since 5th grade. I can write a lot about the blessing it has been being her best friend. I remember when we met, our friendship grew quickly. She always has been a role model for everyone around her. Even though her life has not easy because of her condition, she never stopped being herself. She was always able to keep good grades and be there to help others. She has never let her condition be an obstacle to reach her goals, to work hard, or to help others. She showed others that when you work hard, you can achieve everything in life. She was involved in different clubs and activities at school. She pursues a career as a teacher, doing something that she loves and being able to be a great example to her students. Not every student has the opportunity to have a teacher that, not only teaches them the school subjects with dedication, but also can serve as an example for overcoming and reaching your goals without excuses. Every obstacle that she experienced in life has never stopped her. I'm proud to say that she is my best friend and that I admire her for everything that she has accomplished in life.
She is a life changer to more than just her students. She is a life changer to anyone that meets her. The word “cant” is not in her vocabulary. God bless her and continue to use her.

A teacher - a pillar of support, an epitome of strength, as loving as a mother, as strict as a father, as caring as a friend, a disciplinarian, yet always so approachable and warm at heart. A teacher - a beautiful human being. That's precisely what a teacher is, for every student. Teachers are mentors. They are students' role models. Everything they say feels right. Everything about them looks nice. If you have been lucky to have Rosalind as a teacher you been fortunate because she embodies all those qualities & MORE. That is why she should receive the Life Changer of the Year Award.
Rosalind, since she was a baby, always wants things to be done the right way. Her life was not an easy one, so many surgeries, over twenty, and she kept going. To be a short person ( only in stature) and full fill all the great achivement she had done in life, is a miracle or poses the strenth and courage of a giant. There in no task that she gets involve that she doesn't finished. An example is her master degree,not only she graduated but "Magna Cum Laude". I will say that is strenth,courage and intelligence. I know that she give her students the love, care,knowlage and her heart so they will have a much better feature. I'm very honor to call Ms. B my daugther. And I know that all the students that come to her, she'll be a life changer for them. Congrats, you deserve this award.
I am very proud that my Niece Rosalind Boccheciamp, was nominated for Life Changer of the year. Mrs. B is very dedicated to her students and truly cares about their progress. I must say that she not only changes the lives of her students, but of family and people she meets. I wish I had teachers like her when I was growing up. She is a true inspiration of what you can achieve, never surrenders. When others say it can not be done, she says let's try! She is a true treasure to our family and the teaching profession.
I have known Ms. B since she was born, her parents are my godparents.She comes from the most wonderful ,loving and generous family I have ever known so is no surprise that she is such a committed and giving teacher. Early on in her life she encounter some challenges,but in the long run nothing was and obstacle to Mrs. B pursuing her dreams. With the support and love of her family the sky was the limit, and now she is able to instill in her students that same attitude. As the mother of a special needs son myself, I know how important is to have teachers like Ms.B in your life,especially through those first years of instruction. A teacher that goes the extra mile to find a way to reach a child, to teach the skills necessary to succeed and that also loves and supports them is just priceless. I am very proud of you Mrs. B and all you do for your students .
You are a real educator, A real teacher teaches from their heart not only through books. From reading the many comments about you, you are definitely a teacher from the heart. Beautiful, great human being, has a great heart
Mrs.B is a beautiful person inside and out. She is understanding, loving, kind, family-oriented, dedicated to that which she is passionate about, and a complete joy to be around. I can't think of anyone more deserving of this award.
It was my privilege to work with Rosalind for seven years. She has a passion for the students and always has their best interest at heart. I know she is a life changer, I have seen it with every student she encounters. So incredibly proud of her and the work she has done for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students!
I have worked along side Ms. B as a fellow DHH teacher for the past 12 years. She is a strong advocate for our students with a hearing loss and works closely with the interpreters and classroom teachers to make sure her students are successful. She will “go to bat” for all of her students and families in a heart beat! She is definitely changing lives and her students love her!

I met Mrs. B not to long ago. When my brother introduce to his-in-laws, we got together for dinner. The day that we sat and had dinner together; I seen how friendly, kind, caring, comprehensive, bright, wise and such a great person that Daly really is a life changing savor. I clicked on this link that her prpud daughter post on Facebook. As i have been reading about Mrs. B's capabilities, just felt the need to say i agree !!
Mrs. B is the best teacher, she is an absolute life changer. I interpret in her room daily and I am blown away by her teaching abilities every day! She gets through to her kids like no one else can. I couldn’t think of anyone else more deserving of this award.
Mrs. B is absolutely one of the most AMAZING, creative, intuitive, effective, caring and supportive teachers I’ve had the pleasure of working with. She knows her students better than anyone and daily provides them with the tools they need to be successful in every aspect of their education. From A-Z, she teaches them how to be their very best and not only tells them why big shows them. She leads by example and inspires everyone around her. She is truly a life-changer!!!
Chris is my long time friends from preschool. I have met his beautiful wife couple times. I think she is wonderful and amazing lady that I have met! And I’m so glad I have met Chris wonderful family!
I am Rosalind’s husband, Everyone in her family call her “Daly” . I am deaf and have cochlear implants. She is my life-changer she has helped me have a better communication and understanding. I Am so proud that she’s my wife, because she knows so much about deaf culture and has made a difference in so many people’s lives including mine.
I could'nt think of a more deserving person! The number of children's lives that have been changed and improved by Daly is amazing! I'm blessed to know her!

Mrs. B is an absolutely beautiful person and I cannot sing her praises enough. She does not settle for less and expects the best from everyone, including her students. She is constantly looking for ideas on how to spice up her classroom in order help her students succeed and make herself an even better teacher. She will bend over backwards for absolutely anyone and always with a bright smile on her face. Rosalind is truly a LifeChanger, not only to her students but to anyone she comes in contact with. She has touched many hearts throughout the years and I know she will continue to do so.
Mrs. B is an amazing and empowering person, who made sacrifices to learn ASL to comunícate with her daughter who is dead. She went back to school earned her masters in education and learned ASL while raising and deaf child. She has transferred that passion into the classroom and has changed not only her daughter's life, but the lives of those who enter her classroom. So proud to call Mrs. B my daughter.
Mrs. B have helped me on proceeding my path into college, whereabout I was about to give up for awhile. She helped me finding these connections to the path I was curious upon and ask few questions before jumping into something. She is an excellent supporter in our needs.
I am Mrs. B.’s daughter. She is a truly life changer because she devoted her time to learn ASL to be able to communicate with me. She has sacrificed a lot in order to support me. She went to school and took ASL class and became a teacher for the deaf. She would come home and teach me sign language. She has done a lot for me, become my role model, supported me and helped me to go into college to follow and reach my dreams!
