Cheri Schreibman was nominated by Tamika Hunt, a parent of a student.

Ms. Schreibman is a phenomenal presence in the lives of her students! Her marching band is a family unit and is a shining example of her leadership as an educator and a second mother. She is the chair of the Music Department and is well-respected by her peers, as well as the parents of the community. She always treats everyone she meets with kindness and respect.

Ms. Schreibman and her team of leaders have the ability to mold any child into someone of purpose and discipline, while demonstrating love and direction. Even students who start off on the wrong path have excelled because of Ms. Schreibman's leadership.

She is a talented flutist who translates her talent to the musicians in her band class and marching band. She is also a competitor and trains her students to win. Her competitive spirit, however, is always professional, friendly and respectful. She always provides positive feedback to other bands and wants every student to feel uplifted after a performance. With her leadership qualities and competitive spirit, Ms. Schreibman's band has consistently received A+ ratings in their division.

"Ms. Schreibman is witty, talented, caring and compassionate," Hunt said. "She has a heart for music and the kids who walk the halls of Eagles Landing Middle and High Schools. She is loved by her students; so much so that the graduates return every year to support her current students at competitions and performances. They return to support and help as needed with the operation of the music program. All students under her leadership excel academically, and many go on to higher education to become professionals in the field of music and beyond."

"I have not met an educator like Ms. Schreibman in a very long time," Hunt said. "She actually cares, which is refreshing.  She has certainly made an impact on the life of my child and many others in the community."

Mrs. Schreibman was without a doubt one of the best teachers I have ever had. Band was one place where I felt like I was home and had a family outside of my own. On top of all the good she did for everyone, she was never afraid to speak her mind and push us to become greater human beings. Her passion for teaching and dedication to her students always made me and potentially others, to go harder than before. Whenever you see Mrs. Schreibman, you will immediately receive positive vibes and that is something that I love most about her. Even until this day now that I have graduated, she wants to know how I'm doing and what all I have going on in my life, and I appreciate that with all my heart! I've never met anybody who's cared as much as she does and I will forever be grateful for everything she taught me, and more importantly everything she's contributed to Eagles Landing.

It is difficult to put into a few simple words how much Mrs. Schreibman means to me and all her students but life changer seems like a great start. Supportive inside and outside of the classroom, she is the most inspiring individual I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with for many years. She has provided me opportunities time and time again to grow and better myself in the classroom, my personal life and professional life. I cannot imagine where I would be today without the guidance and love I received from her over the years. It is easy to see that she touches the lives of her students because we always come back to share our new adventures and love sharing it with the person who gave us the confidence to venture out on our own.

Mrs. Schreibman is an awesome band teacher and shows a strong sense of commitment to the students and school. She inspires her students by encouraging them to strive for excellence to reach their full potential. She taught both my boys and has always been consistent in showing support and interest in their musical and academic development. She does an outstanding job of maintaining good relationships with parents and students keeping an open line of communication. She is very deserving of this award.

Mrs. Schreibman is one of those teachers who inspires us all to be better people. Both of my girls were positively impacted by her love, dedication, talent, and keen eye for always seeing the best in others. She challenges kids to always do better than their best, never give up, and always conduct themselves respectfully; not only in music but in life. Her music program is the reason that they had an enjoyable high school experience. Even though my children have graduated, we would do anything for Mrs. Schreibman. One Pride!

Ms.Schreibman is amazing!! Last year I didn't have the chance to do marching band but as of this moment, I'd never want to leave! She's supportive of our lives and is always there when we need her. Her jokes and rules are part of what makes this band so fun. Ms.Schreibman has managed to make a family away from home and everyone definitely intends to keep it that way

Ms. Schreibman is such amazing human being who's taught me that it's okay to struggle, aslong as you keep trying to better yourself. Her commitment has inspired me to continue my career in music and push my limits to learning new things. She was always my favorite teacher and instructor. I'm so grateful to be a former student of hers.

Mrs. Schreibman is the best band director to ever walk this earth. She is so loving and caring towards her band students. She teaches us great priciples and teaches us great life lessons. Cheri was one of the best students we ever had at the University of Northern Iowa. She was bright, intelligent, very talented, and motivated. She was a leader among her peers, and fervently wanted to be a teacher that makes a difference in the lives of young people. She is doing that. I am pleased that she has been nominated for this prestigious award. Dr. Ronald Johnson Fulbright Scholar Professor of Music, Emeritus University of Northern Iowa

Mrs. Schreibman is a fantastic band director, teacher, and mentor. My daughter is a senior this year, so this will be the fourth year we have the pleasure of working with her. I enjoyed her two years in a row on band trips that I chaperoned. I couldn't have asked for a better band director for my child. ?? She is very much respected in this family.

I have had two children taught and directed by Mrs. Schreibman; and their love and aptitude for playing their instruments and the types of musical pieces far surpassed high school level! Schreibman garners respect and admiration while still becoming whatever students need her to be at a given moment and maintaining professionalism as an educator! Her passion and dedication is contagious for quality/superior individual, band, ensemble musical performance and being able to have fun while doing it! Her devotion has instilled, we are a family at ELHS, “One Band, One Pride!” Grateful Parent

I know Cheri both professionally and personally. She is one of the hardest working teachers I know. The time she puts in with her students-before school, after school, and weekends shows her commitment to her craft and her students. She is a truly caring person- checking on her students on a weekly basis.
