Glad to see that he’s helping other students. I will truly miss passing by his class. You’re such a great teacher Mr. Kent glad the school has recognized, you are truly appreciated!

Dillon's passion for teaching is evident the moment he begins talking about his students and his classes. He is constantly working to become a better educator/mentor through after school activities with students, tutoring, continued education for teachers, etc. Teaching is not just a job to him but a calling. One which he invests in wholeheartedly. He reminds me of a couple of my favorite teachers in high school. The kind of teacher who is always willing to spend a little extra time and energy helping his students. Congratulations Dillon! Your students are lucky to have you!

Dillon is a teacher who has a sincere passion for bringing out the best in his students with a personalized approach to building connections. Students seek him out before school, after school and in following years when they need advice or just someone to talk to. His high school is a Title 1 school, where many parents are economically disadvantaged, their primary language is not English, and/or whose culture is such that school participation is not the norm. His support and participation go a long way to keep these potentially at-risk students engaged. There are so many examples of this connection, such as the countless Quinceaneras he has attended, the crazy costumes he’s worn in the classroom and at school functions, the hundreds of after-school programs he has attended, knowing he may be the only adult there for the student, the countless hours of tutoring and going the extra hour(s) to change curriculum to be relevant to his students. Dillon Kent is an ideal candidate for the LifeChanger of the Year award. His quiet compassion, devotion to teaching and respect to those around him will represent you and your program at a level above your expectations.

I was this fine young man's teacher when he was in first grade. I knew he would be successful in all he would choose to do. I can't tell you how very proud I am for his chosen profession. He is a great role model for his students, friends and all who know him. I join the nominater in thanking Dillon Kent for outstanding contributions in the field of education. I know he will continue to reach out to his students and help them in any way. May God continue to bless this fine young man, and outstanding young educator. Ask me if I am proud. You bet I am.
