Kevin Nellis was nominated anonymously.

"Kevin is the epitome of an amazing educator," said the nominator. "He has served in several roles and at all levels in the school. He started his career in elementary school as a classroom teacher, transitioned into computer tech for several elementary schools in the district, and then moved into administration, where he retired. He has now found his way back into the classroom teaching 5th grade at a critical needs school."

"With his 30+ years serving children, their families, and his colleagues, he has been able to change so many lives," said the nominator. "He is passionate about education and has allowed that passion to help those at his school(s) learn, grow, and become the best they can be."

"That leads me to a story I want to share about Kevin. As an administrator at several elementary schools, he would always start the new school year the same way, showing a TED Talk. This talk focuses on how every child, no matter what, deserves at least one adult in their life who will connect with them, love them, support them, and never give up on them. That is the message Kevin wanted all his teachers and staff to know! He believes in that, encourages that, and practices that. With that mindset, Kevin has been able to help students grow academically, behaviorally, and mentally. He teaches with his heart and loves every student in his classroom. He believes in them and helps them reach their potential," said the nominator.

"Kevin truly is an amazing person who not only impacted my life, but has impacted so many students' lives and continues to do so," said the nominator.
