"Denise is amazing, dedicated, professional, knowledgeable, hardworking, courteous, dependable, punctual, and valued," the nominator said. "She has worked at Mica Mountain High School for four years as a Health Aide. She has worked with pride for the Vail School District for over ten years. She was nominated and received an award in 2022 for Support Staff of the Year at Mica Mountain High School. In May 2023, she was selected, for her expertise, by the Assistant Superintendent of the Vail School District to be on the hiring committee for District Nurse."

"Denise has patience and goes the extra mile to ensure the safety of all students and staff," said the nominator.

Denise is one of the hardest workers I know. She goes above and beyond on a daily basis, making sure everything and everyone is at their best. Always willing to take time and help out anywhere she is needed, even when she is overloaded herself. Denise is an amazing human and she deserves everything good that comes her way!

I see it first hand how much she cares for the students by how much this affects her through the stories and worries about she shows every day. She will dive head first into any problem and confronts it with compassion and knowledge. She has devoted herself to being there no matter the prize or detriment to herself showing selflessness by sacrifice. Continuously furthering her education and knowledge to improve the lives of others from adding a degree to self investigation to improve any student, faculty or family members life. Mica mountain is her home and they have reciprocated by loyalty and listening to her when it is recognized what is needed to improve the lives around them.

I've met Denise while working in the Vail School District. She is always upbeat and positive and yes, she always has a smile on her face. She's serious about any task given to her and relishes the opportunity to make a difference. It's no surprise she is dedicated in her work with helping students and being a team player. I would love to see her get this award!

Denise is an absolutely amazing staff member. Routinely she has always been the first one to help in any situation. She shows up with a plan and is ready to act but makes sure to listen to what you as the student say. She pays attention to all details and makes everyone feel like they are heard. I have truly loved having her as a staff member at Mica Mountain High School.

Denise Isom is by far one of my favorite staff members at Mica Mountain High School! I have had the pleasure of getting to know her these past few years and being her T/A my last year of high school. She is a hardworking, loving, kind individual. She always has a positive attitude, Smile on her face, and takes charge in any situation when it comes to meeting students needs. She knows that little things matter, and all her actions show. She truly deserves this award.

I am nominating Denise Isom for LifeChanger of the Year. She is a great person to know. Denise gives her best and inspires others to be their best. Denise is certified in a difficult profession. She is qualified in the medical field as a Health Aide. She saves the day for the students and faculty of Mica Mountain High School. She gets things done with her patience, determination and a smile. She is truly appreciated. Each day is a challenge for her. The students and staff are lucky to have her. Denise is a role model. Denise’s attention to detail has set her apart from the rest. She is committed to providing safe and effective care in a school setting. She is warm and passionate and committed to building strong relationships with the students and staff in an effort to provide a safe environment for the students. She is well organized and her attention to detail is unbelievable. Denise is passionate about her work and is perusing an education in the nursing field so that she can reach a larger population and provide an even safer environment for her students. It has been an honor and privilege to work alongside Denise for the past 6 years and she is deserving of the honor of being the lifechanger of the year. She has made a significant impact on so many students within the Vail School District with early interventions, not only with the students acute and chronic medical needs but also meeting the mental, emotional, and social needs of the students, in an effort to reduces mental health disparities and promoting mental wellness in school-age adolescents.

Denise is one of those very special people, that has the ability to make you feel cared for, welcomed, and important anytime you’re around her. She does the little things, the warm gestures, that let you know that you matter to her. Denise is so dedicated, genuine, and considerate - honestly it’s just pleasant to be around her. Denise is one of the hardest working staffers at mica mountain. She has an unwavering dedication to the students that attend school there as well as the faculty. She should be the recipient of this award for a multitude of reasons but one reason stands out above all others, she cares about everyone and making sure they have what they need to succeed during their time at mica mountain.

I’ve had the opportunity to work with Denise for many years and have to say her dedication and hard work shines! She always has the students best interest at hand and makes the feel cared for and important. She’s very visible on campus and is such a pleasure to work with. We’ve worked together in very difficult situations and to have her support has meant so much to me. She’s very dedicated to her job and am glad to have her as a co-worker!

Denise is an absolute rock. I don't think I have ever heard a negative comment about her. She delivers on all of her promises, exceeds every expectation, and anticipates needs before they arise. If she doesn't already know the answer to your question, she will research and report back to you in a jiffy. She has my unqualified support for this award.

Ms. Isom goes above and beyond helping students with their needs.  During the pandemic, she did contract tracing and made sure students and staff were safe. She helped save lives, and she has worked overtime during the pandemic on call as needed.  She was nominated as the 2021 Site Support Staff of the Year and received recognition from School Site Council and the Governing Board. She was a 2022 nominee for Life Changer of the Year.  Ms. Isom has received certifications from School Health, Youth Mental Health First Aide, and QPR Suicide Prevention, to name a few. She stays on top of her professional development and reads many books. She works really hard and does things with excellence. Congratulations to Ms. Isom on her nomination and thank you for all you do for students. They are lucky to have her. If you are reading this, I urge you to pick her as one of the life changer of the year! Our medical professionals deserved to be recognized and Denise is one you want to select.

It’s never easy to trust somebody when it comes to your child into, especially if your child has health issues. Denise is competent and caring! I know my child is in good hands.
