Malissa Fagerland was nominated by someone in the community.

Mrs. Fagerland has been a staple in the Langford Area School District for nearly 30 years. She has a constant smile and a welcoming classroom atmosphere. Mrs. Fagerland has a gentle personality and a desire to see students succeed. Mrs. Fagerland is willing to meet students at their learning level, but she also inspires them to go farther with their learning abilities.

During second grade, Mrs. Fagerland strongly encourages students to develop their math and reading skills and hopes for each student to do their best. Mrs. Fagerland has done a reader's theatre program for her second graders for a couple of decades. The program is always a highlight for the students, parents, and faculty. Mrs. Fagerland has had a lasting impact on past students, and many former students still reach out to her when they are back in the Langford community. Mrs. Fagerland goes above and beyond to prepare her classroom for learning opportunities. She spends many hours striving to improve her classroom and teaching methods. She is a five-star teacher!

As the first grade teacher at Langford School district, I work side by side with Malissa. Over the 14 years that I worked with her, we became friends. Although she probably doesn't realize this, I learned a lot from her by watching her and how she developed relationships with the students in her classroom. She showed me how to earn respect from my students. Malissa changes the life of students every day, every month and every year that they are in her classroom.

Mrs Fagerland is an amazing person and teacher. My twins started a new school as second graders and the impact she has had on them is immense! When they are making Christmas gifts, she’s the first one on the list, one stops by regularly to visit with her in her classroom, they enjoyed their time in her class and the bond they carry with. Mrs Fagerland is a positive influence on the kids and parents. She is truly an incredible educator! We think the world of her!
