Jeff Platt was nominated by a former student who wishes to remain anonymous.

According to the nominator, Mr. Platt is the best teacher she has ever had. As a student, history was never her strong suit. When she was in Mr. Platt's seventh grade history class, however, she learned more than she had in any other class.

"Mr. Platt makes the learning environment fun and makes you feel like no matter who you are or how smart you are, you're important in his class," the nominator said. "Many of my classmates would agree that he is one of the best teachers out there."

Earlier this year, when his students found out he was leaving his school district, the nominator and her classmates had shirts made to wear on his last day.

"He makes sure everyone knows that no matter how good or bad you think you are in a subject, everyone can succeed if you want it bad enough," the nominator said. "Mr. Platt is funny, thoughtful, caring, kind and passionate about what he does; which shows through his teaching. He inspires his students to try their hardest and continue to put in effort."

Mr. Platt has such a close relationship with his students and makes sure that they feel valued and important. He always reminds them to be kind, responsible, and respectful to others. Mr. Platt challenges everyone to be their best and welcomes all who enter his classroom.

"I think my favorite thing about Mr. Platt is that he treats all of his students like family, no matter their home life, background, or what they're going through," the nominator said. "Mr. Platt is the most compassionate person I know, and he is forever my biggest role model."
