Elizabeth Echavarria, also known as "Betty," was nominated by her friend, Elizabeth Gutierrez.

The two friends met when Gutierrez was the registrar at Joella C. Good Elementary School. For the past two years, her granddaughters have gone to Miami Lakes Middle School, where Ms. Echavarria is the principal's secretary.

"This lady is incredible," Gutierrez said. "Her job involves a lot of pressure: dealing with teachers, payroll, parents and more. She is consistently lending a hand to anyone she can, and always with a smile. Betty is very soft spoken and extremely professional."

From the moment I got to Miami Lakes Middle School, I quickly learned that Ms. Echavarria is the "go-to" person for pretty much everyone. From answering phone calls, to attending students hall passes, to taking care of parents at the counter, to accommodating teachers and substitutes, to taking care of the Principal's schedule and clerical duties such as payroll, she juggles a lot it's amazing and her work ethics speak for themselves. As a person, beautiful inside and out, humble and kind. Because of people like her Miami Lakes Middle School is one of the best in the district! Thank you Ms. Echavarria :)

Betty is not only my aunt, but one of the closest people to me. My life has had many ups and downs and had I not had someone like her in my life who knows where I would be. She’s been my lifeline and my rock. Having her as a role model is the reason I have been able to achieve all I have and who I am today.

I have know Betty for about 10 years now. And I have to say not only is Betty a great friend but she is like a sister. She has a lovely soul, humble and she beautiful inside and out. I know that she is a person I can always count on.
