LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Jay Milmed was nominated by a former student, Zuleisha Yniguez.

Mr. Milmed is an educator who truly cares about the well-being of his students. He encourages them to try their best and reach their full potential. Yniguez was a student at Charles W Flanagan High School who graduated last year with the class of 2017.

"I really feel like I partially owe the fact that I even graduated high school to the effort and overall support I received from Mr. Milmed. That really drove me to finish what I started," Yniguez said. 

Yniguez had a very difficult time during her senior year and had to relocate during the last semester of school. During that time, Mr. Milmed did everything in his power to make sure she graduated on time

"From the moment I left to the moment I flew back to Florida for graduation, Mr. Milmed remained in constant contact with me and my family to ensure I was doing what I needed to do," Yniguez said.

Mr. Milmed is a voice for his students, who truly look up to him and appreciate all that he does.

"He is open, understanding, flexible, and stern when he has to be," Yniguez said. "He really does his best to understand all of his students and make us feel like we have an outlet, and an adult who cares at school. Someone as selfless and as dedicated as he is deserves the Life Changer of the Year award, every year. If it wasn't for someone as amazing as Mr. Milmed, I don't feel like things would have played out as well as they did for me. It's really thanks to him."
