Ms. Powell has been an awesome teacher for my children that have had her at Deerlake Middle School and Chiles High School. She is well organized, inspirational and fun! She gives individual attention to each student and motivates them to do their best. I have been a substitute teacher in her classroom and attended the Heroes Rally that she started at Deerlake. Everything is always done to the highest standard and her energy and effort are definitely noticed. She is the kind of teacher that you would want to have teach your child. I am a parent of a rising senior at Chiles. I don't know yet who her economics/American government teacher will be. She is taking it as an AP class, and Mrs. Powell may or may not teach at the AP level. But just from viewing her 1 minute video, I can tell how much her students and country mean to her, and that is enough for me to full-heartedly support her nomination as a life changer!
Ms. Powell was my 7th grade civics teacher. It was my first year in the school, and she made me feel very welcomed. I participated in the All American Heroes Rally in both 7th and 8th grade, and in 8th grade was able to perform with the band for the Rally. Now Ms. Powell is at my high school, and I look forward to having her as a teacher again when I'm a senior! Love you, Ms. Powell!!
Mrs. Powell was my son's teacher in middle school and to this day is still cherished by our family. She believes every student is a "rock star" no matter whether they are A students or C students. Her ability to stay positive, engaged, and motivational to her students is no simple feat!
Our family has had the honor of having Mrs. Powell teach both of our daughters at the middle school level. The youngest daughter excelled beyond belief, almost aced the end of the year exam and was placed in higher academic classes the following year, all due to her guidance and detailed instruction. We are so lucky to now have her at our assigned high school and the youngest wishes every day to be placed back in her classroom. There are not enough thank you's to give her. This year our school will celebrate our 10th annual All American Heroes Rally, started by Jennifer Powell. This event is truly life impacting for so many involved. Our 7th Grade students and teachers have honored hundreds of veterans and military personnel over the past years. The mission of this program began by Jennifer is to unite students, faculty, staff and our community as we honor and embrace the Veterans and military personnel of the United States. This assembly centers on the history and intention of Veterans Day as a national holiday as we participate in events and activities that focus on the pride, appreciation and meaning of patriotism in America.
When our students reflect on this event, the positive and lasting impact is evident. Jennifer is definitely a Life Changer!
