Dale Hillyer was nominated by Kathy Allison, the parent of a student.
Over the years, Dr. Hillyer has taken an active role in guiding teachers and students to grand levels. He is always approachable and fair throughout the entire school year. He is an administrator who is encouraging to each and every one of his students and staff alike.
"It is reassuring to see the students, staff and parents smile and greet their principal with respect and admiration," Allison said. "It would be wonderful if every principal at every school had the same passion for the educational experience as Dr. Hillyer. He hopes that the guidance and foundation these children get today, will help them mature into responsible, socially aware adults for our future. I believe Dr. Hillyer does the most good for every student he comes in contact with."
Dr. Hillyer, has been the principal at Stoddard Elementary for over 8 years. During that time, he has been a pillar of integrity, dedication and leadership, for the families, the staff, and the students, at Stoddard Elementary. He has always believed in us, while empowering us and supporting us, every step of the way. In every decision that Dr. Hillyer has made, he has always put children first. As our principal, he has been our mentor, our partner, and our friend. It is because of his unwavering leadership and vision, along with the hard work of staff, parents and students, that Stoddard is where we are today. The impact Dr. Hillyer has made in all of our lives, will have lasting effects, well beyond what he will likely ever see or know, and for that, we are forever grateful. Dr. Hillyer, thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
Dr. Hillyer is simply amazing. In my many years of teaching, I’ve had the opportunity to work under the leadership of several principals, and Dr. Hillyer has far surpassed my expectations of a site administrator. I think of Dr. Hillyer as a builder, a person who likes to roll up his sleeves be in the trenches with his team. He is a person of action and integrity. When a job needs to be done, he is the first one to take care of it. He makes himself available to all teachers and students, addressing issues in a most efficient and timely manner than I’ve ever seen of any principal. He is easily accessible and makes time to sit down and discuss strategies. He is a visionary - seeing a wonderful opportunity for students and doing the legwork to make it happen.
In his years at Stoddard, he has helped cultivate a climate of empowerment for every student and the teachers who work tirelessly to make each day a success. He values each teachers’ strengths and understands that letting our voices be heard is something that will only add to the success of our school. He works at eye level with his staff and does not let his position of power get in the way of his ability to listen to his teachers and form solutions to problems.
My teaching and commitment to my students and our school is what it is today because of Dr. Hillyer. Thank you, Dr. Hillyer, for touching all of our lives.
