Meredith Akers was nominated by her colleague, Jamay Johnson.
Ms. Akers exhibits positive energy that resonates throughout her campus. She juggles so many hats from her servant heart in her church and in the workplace. Ms. Akers has grown exponentially as a leader, particularly when it comes to her social media presence, because she has created many activities her peers and staff can use in their respective fields.
People often wonder how she finds the time to balance her home life and work life. Ms. Akers devotes a certain amount of time to her individual projects and doesn’t overdo it.
"Her genuine personality and her can-do attitude always makes me want to do more," Johnson said. "She strives to put others first, and she always shows appreciation. She inspires her staff and students everyday! Meredith truly wants what is best for students. She has positively changed the culture on her campus, and I have learned so much just from her Twitter."
Ms. Akers continuously shares the success of her students and staff. She transforms leadership in such an innovative way. She blogs about ideas that leaders and teachers can take away and implement in their roles. Ms. Akers even has a 90 second Fresh Thought channel, which broadcasts every Tuesday and Thursday. She is the type of leader who will grow and create many branches for others to grow as well. She is a life-long learner and finds ways to promote student agency.
"Words alone cannot convey the skills she exhibits and the leader she is and will continue to be," Johnson said. "She is definitely a LifeChanger for future learners. Just recently, she was named an incoming principal of one of our elementary campuses. Her excellence as a leader will now make an impact on many more educators and teachers!"
