Denise Charles was nominated by her colleague, Michele Currie.

Ms. Charles makes a big difference in the lives of students at Positive Connections. Children enter school struggling with personal challenges. Some don't recognize numbers or letters and have a hard time spelling their names.

"In spite of their behavior, Ms. Charles can get them to where they need to be," Currie said. "They end up smiling from ear to ear because of their accomplishments!"

Mrs. Charles is a beautiful example of unconditional love! Despite working with students expelled from their regular school, she doesn't see them from the eyes of "bad children". Instead, she views them from a lens of love and appreciation. She is highly dedicated to not only improving a child's academic abilities, but she is committed to improving their overall self worth. They leave her classroom every day feeling loved and believing they can do it! And most importantly, they are confident that has least one person is in their corner, that being Mrs. Charles. Sometimes that's all a struggling child/student needs to turn things around. Working with Mrs. Charles for 5 years now continues to be a daily blessing!

Mrs. Charles dedication to her students goes beyond the walls of her classroom. She nurtures and supports the families of her students, offering opportunities for continued academic growth on the homefront. Children want to be in her classroom and in that loving environment, all students THRIVE!
