LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Trent Laubscher was nominated by Amanda Sorrell, a member of his community.

Mr. Laubscher came from a nontraditional teaching background which allowed him to actively engage his students and excel as a teacher. Through his previous experiences teaching at a Title 1 school, he learned how to engage his students, no matter what they were going through at school or in their personal lives. He has brought English to life at Wellington High School by hosting Slam Poetry nights.

These poetry nights give his quieter students the opportunity to open up and express themselves. Mr. Laubscher will do almost anything to help his students get engaged. Whenever there is a competition or club that the students want to get involved in, he is always there for them.

"No challenge is too big for Trent," Sorrell said. "He is always willing to spend late nights and weekends at school, just to help his students further their knowledge and engagement. He will hopefully be a future leader and I would love for my kids to attend his class!"
