Susan Johnson was nominated by Catrina Gaston, the parent of a student.
Mrs. Johnson has been a teacher for about twenty-eight years. This past October, Gaston gained custody of two of her grandchildren, ages six and seven. Her grandson has some learning disabilities and struggles in the classroom. When he was enrolled in Mrs. Johnson's class, Gaston noticed how much she cares about her students.
"Susan is the kindest, most humble person," Gaston said. "She loves her 'kindergarten babies' dearly and expresses it daily. She goes above and beyond her calling of teaching and shows her little ones how important they are. Susan has even gone so far as to come up with different approaches to teaching my grandson, something I am sure she does not have extra time to do. Mrs. Johnson is just an awesome person and deserves to be acknowledged."
