Brittany Torres is the most thoughtful, passionate and knowledgeable person I have ever worked with. Her dedication to her work is beyond measure. I don’t know when she sleeps. She literally works 24/7. In my heart, I believe she was born to be a counselor. She takes the time to get to know everyone who crosses her path. No matter what time of the day, she drops what she is doing to hear you out. Brittany is truly the BEST counselor in the world!

Brittany and I worked together at Woodridge. She’s is one of the most sincere, caring and hardworking person I’ve worked with. I first knew her as a coach therapy. Than as a teacher with the severe students. When she moved to the resource classes, she started helping out with the State Test. She’s always trying to learn more and help in anyway she can. She’s always someone that coworker, parents and students can depend on. Brittany is the best.

Ms Torres is dedicated to helping all students. She is the only educator I know to not only remember you, but your siblings, your parents and your personal situation you might be going through. It's not about remembering. It's about caring. She cares so much that she gets to know the real you. And students, parents, and teachers notice. Ms Torres is genuine. We need more people like Ms Torres. In all aspects of life.

I've worked in the school system for years and years. I have come across MANY different counselors. NONE of them compare to Brittany Torres! I have seen her literally run after students. I have seen her stop whatever she is doing (in a meeting, in the middle of a guidance class, or while she's seldomly taking a time to eat her lunch) to go answer a teacher's call for her help with a teacher or student. She is always going on house visits to check on a student's wellbeing. Mrs. Torres stays well beyond her "clock out" time EVERYDAY calling parents and doing extra work for her students. When she leaves the school by 6pm (which happens maybe once a month) it's only because she has to be there for her own child's event. She takes every situation SERIOUSLY. The students come to her with their problems because they know she will take them SERIOUS and will help and solve their problems. Torres gets emotional behind Woodridge students because she truly and honestly loves each and every one of them, new or old. I have so many remarkable stories of what she has done and been through. This is the second year working with her and I NEVER want to lose her as our school's counselor!

Life changer of the year.... Mrs. Torres is my number 1 choice! She's passionate, professional, and genuinely has a love and knowledge for what she does. The world is a better place with her in it!

Talking about a spark plug of energy and positivity at Woodridge and you MUST be taking about Mrs. Torres. She's the listening ear to us all and the push in the right direction when you need it. The other half of my brain for RTI and a human computer. She knows EVERY kid in the school AND their grade level! She's amazing.

I count it a privilege to have worked alongside this wonderful educator. Words are inadequate to express the gratitude I share for Mrs. Torres. She is the driving force that reminds me of what compassion looks like. She deserves this honor and more, but would never be the person to accept such praise. Humility is a consistent characteristic of Counselor Torres. She is the sole counselor of a growing elementary school, but continues to find time to meet the diverse needs of her family, friends and coworkers. What more can I say about this loving counselor that has not already been said? I am blessed that our paths crossed and I'm indeed proud to call her a friend.

To say that Brittany is a rock star is an understatement. She lives and breathes education. Her career started as a teacher's assistant, finished college and became an elementary special education teacher, went back to college to pursue a Masters and is now a school counselor (all at the same school)! Her purpose is to support others in all aspects of their lives, from the academics to the social. She gives 100% of herself on a daily basis. She collaborates with other educators across the Nation to provide her students and staff with meaningful, and engaging lessons. She continues to learn by attending professional development conferences, even attending the Ron Clark Academy. The relationships she strives to build are seen through the leadership groups she hosts for children, through the life altering field trips she provides her school and through the passion that she carries daily. I could give you numerous examples of WHY she deserves this award!

Before completing my alternative teaching certification, I was a single mother trying to find my way. Brittany has supported me as a mom and continued to do so as a staff member. She smiles through most difficult times and supports our campus in ways we wouldn't be able to function properly without her. Brittany Torres is the epitome of servant leadership!

I have worked with Mrs. Torres for many years. She has such an amazing spirit and goes above and beyond for our students! I have seen her time after time put her own needs to the side to be there for a kid. She listens to them with such intensity! She has cried tears of joy for their success and tears of sadness for their pain. Her strength and wisdom have spread over our school and the impact she leaves on the hearts and mind of our kids is beyond measure!

Brittany Torres is a remarkable counselor. She is the lone counselor for 700+ students: knows all of their names, where they live, their personal stories, their strengths and weaknesses, and supports their outside activities. She works tirelessly to bring out the very best in every student, parent, teacher, and administrator. She has worked hard to be a role model for our students in that she began her educational career as a teacher’s aide and worked her way through school to earn her Master’s, at the same time she was raising her own family. I have worked with several counselors in my career and she is the BEST!
