LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Angie Allison was nominated by a colleague who wished to remain anonymous.
 
Ms. Allison began her teaching tenure at Oak Grove High School in 2007. Since that time, she has grown into one of the most influential teachers with whom the nominator has ever worked. In fact, seven of the top ten academic seniors in the 2017 OGHS graduating class credited her with influencing them, not only in their high school accomplishments, but in their choices of post-secondary pursuits.  They not only credit her with teaching them academic content, but more importantly, the fruits of hard work, perseverance, and integrity. 

Ms. Allison brings a fun-loving spirit to her students and classes, which include three of the most rigorous courses in the OGHS social studies department. She accepted the role several years ago of piloting the first ever Advanced Placement course in OGHS history, and she now teaches AP Psychology and two dual credit history classes through a local university. She constantly engages students and pushes them to excel in all aspects of their education through inquiry, internal motivation, and civic engagement.  Each year, she creates a positive environment where students can showcase their talents and flourish in a rigorous academic setting.  Over her time at OGHS, she has positively touched the lives of countless students who invariably return to her with many thanks and positive relationships.
