Lisa Cobb was nominated by her colleague, Noey Meza.

Mrs. Cobb is a veteran science educator who is now in her 15th year in education. She has served as a science teacher, math & science facilitator, Assistant Principal for Instruction, science specialist, and is currently a Biomedical Science teacher and System Course Leader for Biology and AP Biology in Harmony Public Schools.

Mrs. Cobb has taught all kinds of science for students in grades 6-12, except for AP Chemistry and Environmental science. Her impact does not stop with her students, but extends to mentoring peers at the school, district and state levels. She gives her time to extracurricular activities, coordinating Science Olympiad and HOSA groups for the campus, as well as coordinating the annual science fair and STEM festival.

"Mrs. Cobb believes that all students and adults have the capacity to learn and are entitled to have outstanding, relevant, thought-provoking opportunities to advance their understanding of the world," Meza said. "This is her living goal, to bring experiences to her students that teach them how to think, make decisions, and communicate in order to enable them to grow into relevant, competent, and community minded members of society."

In all of my years of attending school, I have never had a teacher as amazing as Mrs. Cobb. I have been a student of hers since my freshmen year of high school and although her courses are extremely rigorous, she is always there to assure we understand what we are learning. I have been impact by Mrs. Cobb not only as a student, but also as a person. She pushes us to practice things such as respect and integrity, things that are very important in a person. I also see the love and dedication she puts into her work, and it really inspires me to strive to find a career in which I can do the same. Mrs. Cobb truly IS a lifechanger and as one of her students, I believe she deserves all the recognition she can get for her hard work. Thank you for everything you do, Mrs. Cobb!

I have been fortunate to have Mrs.Cobb as one of my teachers through every year of high school. Initially, I was intimidated to continue enrolled in her PLTW course series because of its apparent difficulty, but soon enough I learned how well Mrs.Cobb is able to instill difficult information in her students. She has come to mean so much more to me than just being my biomedical teacher. She's always there for us when we need help understanding something or when we just want to talk about something. She's created a classroom environment that we had never come to experience before. Its one where we all feel talented. One where we all feel respected. And most importantly one where we aren't afraid to be wrong. Mrs.Cobb has always told us that failure is inevitable and what matters is that we learn something as a result. This is the one motto that I know will stick with me for the rest of my life. Mrs.Cobb's class also has a structure that we all have come to appreciate so much. As a member of her PLTW course series, I get to conduct experiments that many schools in my area have never even heard of. For example, we have had the opportunity to simulate a crime scene investigation, conduct a glucose tolerance test, and even dissect various organs such as kidneys. We get to learn about real world methods to solve real world problems that persist within our world and especially in our community . In conclusion, I just really wanted to help Mrs.Cobb in any way that I could. She means so much to each and everyone of her students. She has truly inspired us and made us realize how achievable our goals are. Thank you!
