LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Amy Worsham was nominated by her principal, Justin Kana.

Mrs. Worsham is a "LifeChanger" on a daily basis at Healdton High School.  She has implemented many programs in her two years at Healdton that have greatly benefited the school and, more importantly, the students.  

Mrs. Worsham established a food pantry at the school that is stocked and managed by her students. They prepare bags for students in need to take home and have been known to deliver bags if needed. The students thoroughly enjoy helping others and feeling the satisfaction from doing good for others. Mrs. Worsham's Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) group is very service-oriented.  They help out with many causes in her community and around the area. They do multiple projects for the Veteran's home, nursing home, hospital, Wounded Warrior, local police and fire departments.  Their greatest service project is during the holiday season for the elementary students. Her students help raise money and get donations for new toys for every student. They then put on a spectacular event dubbed "Winter Wonderland."  The students treat their younger counterparts to a morning and afternoon of Christmas delight.  They make crafts with the students, play games, face paint, read stories, and help pass out presents with Santa Claus.  This is by far the favorite service project of all students.

"Mrs. Worsham is instrumental in all these projects coming to fruition through her intense and intricate planning and preparation and then the molding of her students through her teaching and caring to help carry out these plans," Kana said. "Her high expectations and bonded relationships with her students is evident in their willingness to serve our community in any manner Mrs. Worsham sees fit. The benefits to our community have been tremendous.  She is definitely helping to shape the lives of our students in a positive, productive manner on a daily basis.  A true 'LifeChanger' in my books."
