An absolutely tremendous teacher and mentor. This is a man who would feed you, talk you out of dumb shit and most importantly genuinely cared about you. A far better person than i could ever hope to be.

Mr. Doyle was the closest thing I ever had to a father when I was at Everglades. He steered my life in a completely different direction than it would've gone. I owe that man my life.

Doyle was one of those teachers I’ll tell my kids about some day. He genuinely cared so much about every single person that walked into his class. It was a blessing to have him as a teacher.

Natalie McCann Posted over a year ago

This was the class in High School that I learned the most from. When it came to choosing courses I always persisted on having Mr. Doyle because I had heard wonderful things. Its not everyday that 17 year olds are bragging about how much they enjoy a teacher. When I was placed into Mr. Doyle's class I realized what everyone was talking out. He made learning exciting. He had such a passion for what he did that he was not simply reading from a textbook or giving a power-point lecture. He was really involving us. He did not treat his students like little kids, knowing we would be out in the "Real World" soon enough. He treated us as adults. We learned from our mistakes but not the same way we would in other classes with a screaming teacher. He gave us life lessons and experiences to help us learn from our mistakes and to reach us on a more personal level. I will always be grateful for all that I have learned from this Man. Good luck young Padawans.

As a former parent and PTA President at Everglades High School, I can tell you that Mr Doyle was one of the best teachers at the school. His students loved him and most of all loved learning from him. He has this way of getting through to the students. He was also very involved with the PTA and parents loved him as well. My daughter has been out of school for over 10 years and we still talk about him and how much he helped my daughter in school. Mr. Doyle is the best of the best!!!

Ashley Perdomo Posted over a year ago

It’s been almost 10 years since I graduated high school. Robert Doyle will always be a teacher that I remember and that changed my life. His passion for teaching changed my outlook on school and how serious I took my education. The “Super 6” will always be grateful for your lessons. No words can express how amazing of a teacher and a person you are. Thank you for all that you do. We need more teachers like you. You are truly a hero in my eyes. I love you Doyle. Everglades High School Class of 2008 :)

Since my freshman year of high school, my upperclassman peers were constantly telling me “make sure you get Doyle for History”, “Doyle is the best, make sure you get him!” Now as a senior, I would give the same advice to any student. Doyle had an incredible impact not only on me academically, but personally. He is like a father and bestfriend in one. He constantly motivates his students to reach their fullest potential, and whenever I have a doubt I go to Doyle. He is honest, and that is what students this age need. He is completely deserving of this award.

Godly. The only teach who cares whether students pass

Victoria Pierre Posted over a year ago

Since the beginning of my academic school career, iv'e never been able to say too many great things about the teachers iv'e had. But this 2017-2018 school year had definitely changed all of that. From the moment i met Doyle, he's been nothing but the hands down the most uplifting, kind-hearted, and loving teacher. Each class that listen to him speak, is never just a lecture about Us History. This man has taught me as well as my class life lessons that i will truly hold dear to my heart forever. Mr.Doyle at Everglades High school has never, ever just been a teacher, but a friend, and educator who truly cares for students, and most importantly an amazing father with the biggest heart of all.

Mr. Doyle is the best teacher I’ve had in all of my 12 years of school. Who would’ve thought that he would’ve become a father figure to not only me, but to more than a majority of the students he’s interracted with. As I’ve scrolled through the comments, many of the people have said something along the lines of how he’s inspired them to be the best version of themselves and this cannot ring anymore true. A perfect example of this is today— I went by his class today to check up on him and once we spoke for a bit, he assured me (once again) how I am one of the best students he has taught in all of his 30 years, and if it wasn’t for such words last year when I had his class and even now everytime I see him, I know for a fact that I would not have had the self confidence that I have today. Everytime I have a doubt of my future, I always think of Mr. Doyle telling me how I have one bright future ahead of me, and I this coming from his mouth held much value to me because I know he has reasoning as to why he believes that I will have a bright future— his words hold weight whereas much teachers not so much; most teachers tend to say things just as it the nice thing to say or because of their profession. After what I’ve wrote and along with all of the other students, it is more than evident that Mr. Doyle is worthy of this award and more!

Doyle is hands down the best teacher I've ever had, best educator. I graduated 2010 and was fortunate enough to have Doyle during my final semesters in high school - it was such a joy. It's been mentioned consecutive times, but Doyle taught us more than just history but also taught us about life. Thank you for your guidance Doyle!

Arantxa Villegas Posted over a year ago

Mr. Doyle, although I didn't have him as a teacher, was most likely the reason I passed U.S. History. When I was struggling in understanding most of the concepts in the class, he was offering after-school study sessions for anyone who'd like to come. Besides teaching us the main concepts and anything else that anyone asked a question about, he told us that we were all capable of doing great, which I can say inspired me in more than just to pass the exam.

Robert Pintavalle Posted over a year ago

Robert Doyle was my teacher over a decade ago and I still think about him and what he taught us. I literally signed up for philosophy because at the time he was the only one who taught it so I knew I would have him as a teacher again. Doyle took a subject (social studies) that can be boring, irrelevant, and distant to a lot of students and turned it into a subject that was alive, relevant, and interesting. He made social studies something students were invested in and encouraged active participation in our democracy. Much the same can be said for philosophy. He took a subject that can be abstract and disinteresting and engaged a whole class. Doyle sparked a personal interest in philosophy for me which has resulted in a lifelong interest in the subject. I actually can't say enough positive things about Mr. Doyle. He deserves the world that he encouraged his students to go out and take.

He has told stories, helped any individual who has problems at home or at school, and fought off any problems. Hes like the father I wish I had.

There are no words that can describe how special this man is. No teacher has ever impacted my life as much as Mr. Doyle has. He believed in students and the power of education. Learning was such a pleasure with Mr. Doyle and I couldn’t have asked for a better Economics teacher. Thank you Mr. Doyle from the bottom of my heart

Tata T. Posted over a year ago

I don’t believe words can describe the impact Mr.Doyle has had on his students lives, he truly is an amazing teacher and the fact that some people go through school without having a teacher that cares and will make it their priority to make sure you succeed is disheartening.

Janice Mascia Posted over a year ago

I have know this man for 24 years. He is originally from L.I., NY. I worked for a school district and one of my jobs was to arrange for substitute teachers for them. In the 25 years of doing that I never had a sub requested as much as he was. And not just for Physical Education which is what he was certified for at that time but for all classes. The teachers knew that if he was their sub he would actually "teach" the class and could leave "real" lesson plans for him. As a sub he was all the students "favorite" teacher. As a "real" teacher he is way above "average". I am so lucky to have been able to watch him teach a class. It was so amazing to see him relate to his students - and these were elementary school students. There are some people who were born to teach, Robert Doyle is one of them. He not only teaches them the subject matter necessary to pass the class but teaches them how to live life as a productive human being, to be proud of themselves and their abilities and never to sell themselves short. Best of all he teaches them to believe in themselves always and that even if they fail the first time or even the 10th time to never, ever stop trying. I am so proud to call this amazing man, and teacher my friend.

Katherine Diaz Posted over a year ago

Doyle is one of the best educators I've had in my entire school career. He is very dedicated to his students and makes sure that his classroom is a safe space for all to come and speak their minds. Even after you graduate you are always welcomed in his classroom. He encourages thinking and debate unlike a lot of teachers who just focus on standardized tests. Doyle prepares you for the future by teaching you things you need to know outside of school, how to interview, how to give a proper handshake, how to make a proper resume. He cares so much for his students. He supports you in your journey in life and always wishes the best for his students. My life was definitely changed by him.

Everything she wrote is true he is the only teacher I have that actually cares about how his students are. Not just in school but out of school, he is a celebrity in this school every student knows him and everyone who had him as a teacher says he is the best teacher they ever had.

Eder Posted over a year ago

Doyle is the best role model, teacher, and supporter that this world has ever seen. I was new to this school, and sat on the back to mot attract much attention. All of the sudden he tells me “you are smart, you are writing down all your notes. Sit up front, because you are going to get a 5 on this EOC.” Funny enough, I did. And I also managed to go from a 1.7 unweighted GPA to an 2.9 in between 11-12 grade. I also graduated with unique honors and an academic achievement. But, my biggest accomplishment was being Mr. Doyle’s student. He made me the person I am today. He saved me from myself. He also rescued from all those bad people in my school. All my so call “counselors” that told me I was never going to graduate. All those teachers who told me I will be a failure. It is thanks to this man, that I proved them all wrong. But, it’s not just me, thousands of students have been helped, even rescued by Mr. Doyle. And I am pretty sure all of them strive to be like him. Funny enough, he always tell us to be better than him. But, I always wonder if that is even possible.

There wasn't a student who couldn't wait to get to Mr. Doyle's class. On the the 1st writing assignment, he gave my son a B. My son was furious saying his paper was no B paper. It made my son work even harder. Mr Doyle admitted it was indeed an A paper, but knew it would upset him to think outside the box more. He also had a competition at the end of the year on answering interview questions as if they were competing for a job. It was a perfect way for students to think about what would set them a part of others.

Mr. Doyle was the most amazing and inspiring teacher I’ve ever had. He tells you the first day of class that we will Never have a teacher like him again. He was right. He is the only reason I made it through high school and why I pushed so hard to do my absolute best. He was a great role model and always knew what to say when I had an issue. He is an angel in disguise.

Amanda Mitchell Posted over a year ago

Mr. Doyle has made an impact on students lives for as long as I have known him (2002). I never took his class but always heard from other students that Doyle was the best, so I had to see it for myself. I found myself during my free times in school hanging out in Doyle’s class or having lunch with him because he always made me and others feel worthy and hopeful for our futures. I graduated high school in 2006 and still find a way to come visit Mr. Doyle to see how he’s doing and catch up on what life has had to offer! Thank you for being such a caring individual! Love you Mr. Doyle!

This wonderful man’s classroom was a safe haven for learning, love, equality, and peace. He’s known by many names; Mr. Incredible, Papa Doyle, Second Father, The Greatest Teacher, etc. Any student who walked into his classroom left as a better person than when they walked in. I, for one, owe my incessant love for learning, history, equality, justice, and America to this man. My children, they’re children, and their children’s children will know if him. Everywhere I go, and to whomever I speak, I carry and share the values this great man helped instill in me and my fellow students.

There are no words to describe the impact that Doyle has had on my life. As my 11th and 12 th grade teacher, he saw potential in me that didn't see in my myself. As the years have gone by Doyle has become my number one supporter, my bestfriend and my family! There is no way I can ever repay you for all the happiness, love and support his given me both academically and emotionally !

Mr. Doyle is the kind of teacher you tell your grandkids about. The teacher that would step aside from the books for a while and give you genuine life lessons. Lessons you will remember as you go on about your days. He wanted his students to learn the school material to succeed but more than anything he wanted his young padawans to be good people. Even if you didn’t have Mr. Doyle as a teacher, he impacted every student he’s ever come in contact with.

Mr. Doyle is definitely part of a rare breed of teachers that not only commands attention from his students with his size and voice, but the respect he gives to his students. Having him for a teaching was definitely a blessing because there are not that many teachers that truly strive to see their students do better not only in the classroom but in life as well. He tells his own life stories to not only show his students that he has been around the block, but that he has made the same mistakes that we as his students, current or former, are likely to make in our lives down the road if we don't stop to think.

The title “Life Changer of the year”, is a rather feeble one in the attempt to describe this man’s impact. Not a days goes by I do not think about him or the profound influences he’s made on my academic life. He is a man who has an impact on my life similar to that of my father, Einstein, and god. He is truly a gem of the American Education System.

Mr. Doyle was hands down my best teacher my senior year of high school. Every day I walked into his class, I was excited about what I was going to walk out of his class having learned. Whether it was abou government, economics that would help me on life, or him better preparing me for life ahead of his class. His bright spirit day in and day out is what made his class memorable, and every student who has gone through his clsss will say Doyle made an impact like this or greater, leaving high school better equipped, and more confident than before we stepped into his class.

Doyle is constantly changing the life of those around him. As a teacher he uses his time with student not only to educate them in school topics but also in th things no one mentions but are necessary in the real world. As a senior in his class I had the privilege to see first had how he changed the life of those around me as well as my own. He saw a future in each and every one of us and wasn’t afraid to say it. He knew we could all be successful but he also knew we needed the support we lacked from our other teachers. It’s been 6 years since I graduate and still today I am thankful for everything I learned from that wise man. Thank you for everything! You deserve the best in the world. I love you. -“Doc”

Don't think there are satisfactory words to string together to describe how amazing and selfless this person is. Just look at how many students over the year come back to him for advice, or just to let him know where they are now. Doyle believed in us when we thought life was at its absolute worst (high school). He never lied; he made sure we knew life was tough. But he also made sure we knew we could overcome any of that as long as we got back up and knew he had our back. You mention "Doyle" to ANY Everglades students (or any of their siblings regardless of if they went to EHS) and they legit will have 1. a story & probably 2. a tear in their eye FULL OF EXCITEMENT wishing they were back in his classroom.

Mr. Doyle was so much more than a teacher. I was the quiet one in class, but whenever I had a problem he was always there no matter what. He has helped countless students with more than just schoolwork, but with personal problems, as well. I truly believe that many students would not have succeeded if it wasn't for Mr. Doyle. He motivated students to be the best they could be, and didn't accept that they couldn't do something. If anyone is a lifechanger, it would be him. Hands down.

Michelle Agatstein Posted over a year ago

Ten years later and Mr. Doyle is one of those people I will never forget. He is one of those few teachers who looks beyond test scores; he leads his students beyond their expectations in life. His expectation is that every student grow to be a self-fulfilling, responsible adult. He has led so many of my friends in comfortably coming out to their families and peers. He has helped so many of his students to feel ready to take on college and a post-high school career. He has taught us to stand up for ourselves and what we believe is right. We've seen Mr. Doyle even stand up to our principal -- a retired military officer -- because he (Mr. Doyle) believed that we, as high schoolers, should be treated as adults and that the faculty should expect more of us, just as he did. Mr. Doyle has influenced so many people and this award would be a great honor to formally recognize him as the life changer he is.

Mr. Doyle has really been such an amazing part of my freshmen year. I met him when I was wondering around the Social Studies Hall while trying to find out about our schools Gay Straight Alliance. As soon as I met him I had a feeling he would be a key part to my growth at EHS. Doyle’s classroom became my safe haven after about a month or so, if I was fearful of a class or someone in it his door was always open to me and other students that were feeling anxious or somewhat scared. I’ve never felt more protected by a teacher in my life. I’ve delt with quite the amount of bullying from peers and even some teachers, but I know I’m safe here if Doyle’s around. He deserves this title more than anyone I could ever think of. This isn’t a title for him but it’s one for his blessed mother who isn’t with us anymore, for his students that I have passed on, his students that are prospering, and his students right now. Mr. Robert Doyle is the perfect fit for Lifechanger of the year. -L.A.
