Kathryn Vecchio was nominated by a member of her community, Thomas Ledbetter.

Ms. Vecchio is a young teacher who cares for her students' well-being. She is always making sure that students are engaged, and promotes a strong learning culture in her classroom. On one occasion, Ms. Vecchio found out that one of her students could not afford the stipend to go on the fifth grade field trip to NASA Cape Canaveral. She didn't want her student to feel left out, so she paid the trip fees for her student to ensure they didn't miss the experience.

"This is only one example of how Ms. Vecchio cares for and helps her students," Ledbetter said.
