Dr. Gallon is an outstanding professional, mentor, and leader, as well as a staunch advocate for children. For several decades, he has been among the most visible activists for educationally marginalized populations. To this end, Dr. Gallon has been directly involved in revolutionizing alternative education and mobilizing urban communities. He has created partnerships with local businesses and community partners to enhance educational programs and provide relevant connections with stakeholders and viable channels to the workplace.

Dr. Gallon’s tenure as School Board Member-District I in Miami-Dade County is a testament to his ability to organize a comprehensive public education system. Instead of insulating himself in an office, he took charge by addressing and supporting the key element of quality education – the teacher. He did this by creating intensive staff development aligned to the short-term and long-term goals of the organization, which resulted in the achievement gains substantiated by the district’s Quality Single Accountability Continuum. He exhibited flexibility, broad-based leadership, and realistic ambition.

Throughout his long career, Dr. Gallon’s work has not concluded at the end of the workday. Through his dedication to social service; volunteering for youth programs, serving in committees, mentoring troubled youth, advising local non-profits; Dr. Gallon has demonstrated that he is socially committed to the communities he serves. It is this deep desire to remain connected to his humble beginnings that have kept him connected to the basic needs of the children he has served through his work as school administrator and leader.
