Mrs. Garcia presents at the ESC 1 Region One Media Fair and the annual Texas Association of School Library Administrators workshop. She is on the grants committee at the district level. This year, she will contribute to the application of the National Leadership Grants for Libraries.
"I trust that she will be a great asset in providing information to make the application viable," the nominator said.
She is a team player who collaborates with teachers and staff to develop a partnership in promoting literacy. She has transformed her library into a place where students are eager to visit. Through her dynamic storytelling skills, she incentivizes students to develop a love of reading. Adults enjoy her animated storybook reading as well. She has been instrumental in helping troubled students calm down and get lost in a book. Kids have a sense of security when they visit the library.
She works with community members to produce activities such as Career Day, History Months for various ethnic groups, Dr. Seuss, and other events. She is always extending an invitation to read to students in the library. Nurses, firefighters, teachers, administrators and others find it exhilarating to oblige.
