Elsa Naranjo was nominated by an anonymous colleague.
Ms. Naranjo is one of the most giving people one could encounter! She has a caseload of close to 600 students, but she makes each one of them feel like they are her only student. She always makes time for her students and tries to accomodate their needs. Ms. Naranjo ensures that all of her students are informed about their progress towards graduation and guides them in the courses they need to take to be prepared for a higher education.
Ms. Naranjo is a hands on type of person. If she sees something that needs improvement, she is not afraid to just give ideas on how to improve things. She will jump in and be the first one leading the change. Last year, when there was a void in the coaching position for JV Softball, she took on the job so that the program would not be disbanded. Despite her busy work schedule, she found a way to fit softball into her life and led the team to a successful season. She is also involved with Students Run LA, which prepares students to run the LA Marathon and finds the time to support all student body activities.
Her door is always open to her students, and she finds a way to make sure all of their needs are met. She also keeps the parents aware of their children's successes and areas that need attention.
