I am an AP, and I work closely with Evans to support cohort 2019. Ms. Evans has changed lives in this cohort by intervening with counseling services, mediating relationships between students and teachers, articulating credits, navigating the best possible pathway for each individual student towards graduation and by being a safe space for students to ask for help. She uses the right balance of humor, tough love, and nurturing to support our kids to the finish line, and I am grateful every day that I have her as a resource to find solutions for our must challenging students.

I have known Katherine for over 20 years. Everything she does is for the children at DISD. She is totally committed to them and always works in their best interests.

Katherine Evans is my mother and was (a long, long time ago) my counselor as well. She is the kindest and most tender person I know. She works hard because she believes in what she does and recognizes what all smart, sensitive people know--that kids are the future and that there is no better way to invest in that future than by extending kindness and understanding to them. If she doesn't understand something, she explores it without being deterred by fear of the unknown. She helps the some of the most vulnerable people in society--young people grappling with their approaching future, often with the odds stacked against them--navigate difficulty and adversity with compassion and patience. She has certainly done that for me. She is my favorite person and I have the utmost respect for her. It's easy to feel powerless, both globally and in your own life, but she works tirelessly to show people where their power lies and how to harness that power in a way that is fulfilling to them. I love and respect her infinitely.
