LifeChanger of the Year Nominee Profile

Laura Hubbard was nominated by a colleague who wishes to remain anonymous.

Mrs. Hubbard has been an inspiration and a solid foundation for music education for many years. Students love and remember her when they graduate from Singing River Academy. She has made a beneficial difference in the lives of students, both then and now.

She has the ability to positively add to the development of her school's atmosphere, as well as the district's. Mrs. Hubbard believes that creating a stable music education program from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade is extremely important. For the last 15 years, she has participated in the annual district concert, which features the top elementary classes. She helps other elementary music teachers prepare their students for the years to come.

Mrs. Hubbard has been instrumental in organizing the clinician, other high school ensembles, and other logistical issues for district events. She is also active in all of the district's music communications, including with the top administration. She has been the leader in several district-wide Fine Arts committees and has hosted the Southern Distict Music Conference. 

"Her adherence to high moral and ethical standards and producing a nurturing atmosphere applies to both students and teachers alike," the nominator said. "She promotes public education and the development of all students. Plus, she is Nationally Board certified. She believes in the value that a strong and well balanced music and art education brings to each student, including her own children."
